Imagine stepping into a dome where every vibration is carefully designed to calm your mind, restore your body, and awaken your senses. In Kerala’s Kozhikode, that experience has become a reality through the Sonorium—the world's largest sound healing dome.
Though inaugurated earlier this year in February, the groundbreaking wellness attraction continues to generate excitement among travellers, wellness seekers, and healthcare experts alike. Set amid the tranquil surroundings of Tulåh Clinical Wellness, the Sonorium is emerging as one of India’s most unique destinations for restorative travel.
Adding global star power to the project, Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman officially unveiled the immersive space during a visit with his Indian classical ensemble, JHALAA.
The Sonorium is not merely a building—it is an instrument in itself. Created through a collaboration between Tulåh Clinical Wellness and Svaram of Auroville, the dome is built around a seven-fold geometric design inspired by the seven chakras of the human body. Every aspect of the structure has been engineered to work in harmony with specially designed sound instruments and therapeutic frequencies.
Founder Faizal Kottikollon described the dome as a seamless blend of ancient wisdom and modern science, where architecture and acoustics come together to create a deeply immersive healing environment. The result is a space where sound is not just heard, it is experienced physically, emotionally, and mentally.
During the inauguration, Rahman spoke about the remarkable impact of the Sonorium's carefully crafted sound environment. He noted that it was deeply fulfilling to witness the vision behind Tulåh Clinical Wellness come to life through such a unique space. According to him, the dome had been created with extraordinary precision, and the vibrations produced within it felt profoundly therapeutic.
The celebrated composer shared that he had brought members of JHALAA to the facility for rehearsals and creative sessions and described the experience as transformative. He added that the stillness of the surroundings, combined with Tulåh's holistic approach to wellness, naturally encouraged healing, focus, and creative exploration.
As wellness tourism continues to grow worldwide, travellers are increasingly searching for experiences that offer more than relaxation. They seek transformation. The Sonorium answers that demand through guided sound therapy sessions, meditative immersions, and specialised wellness programmes.
The dome uses carefully calibrated acoustic frequencies designed to help relax the body, balance the nervous system, reduce stress, and support natural healing processes. Unlike conventional wellness retreats, visitors here become active participants in a sensory journey powered by vibration and resonance.
For many, the experience feels closer to a meditation retreat, a musical performance, and a therapeutic session all at once.
Kerala has long been celebrated for Ayurveda, nature retreats, and backwater escapes. The arrival of the Sonorium adds an entirely new dimension to the state's wellness offerings. Located in Kozhikode, the attraction strengthens Kerala's position as a global hub for holistic healing and experiential travel. It also reflects a growing movement toward non-invasive therapies that combine science, mindfulness, and cultural traditions.
