What else could be this great support to our PM Modi’s attempts towards Swachhta? Taking a step ahead towards cleanliness, the Wayanad district administration of Kerala has declared its region to ban use of plastic and other materials that degrade the environment. Foreseeing the extent to which it even harms the people’s health causing cancer, sewage blockages and also affecting the fertility of soil, this action was taken. The plan would be implemented from October 2, by restricting the use of thermocol made/ disposable plates and glasses, plastic bags and tumblers. Only a part of the trade where plastic is used for sealing or packaging the new products would be exempted. Moreover, any trade or individual merchandise violating the rules would be regulated under the Section 133 of Code of Criminal Procedure.
