Bathinda devotees going to Jammu and Kashmir for religious tourism are a happy lot as it is soon to get an air route to Jammu. It is the only city in Punjab to be selected under the 'Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN 2) scheme for second-tier cities. Currently, it has air connectivity only to Delhi. According to an official of Union civil aviation ministry, the Alliance Air has been selected to start flying operations to Jammu from Bathinda airport.
This direct flight from Bathinda to Jammu will be extremely beneficial to devotees going on pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi, Amarnath or tourists going to enjoy the scenic beauty of Kashmir.
