Resistance to change is normal. However, that need not be the case. Not at all. Change is beneficial to us in both our personal and professional lives because it increases our adaptability, introduces us to new situations and people, and creates more opportunities. The brain is wired for survival with so many thoughts that might be negative. In today’s times, this can be exacerbated by watching any news or engaging in divisive politics. Negativity is fear, worry, doubt, wishing ill on others, making oneself right and others wrong etc. and turning it into a continuous negative mind chatter. The quality of our thoughts affects our mood and behavior. Reframing our thoughts can indeed have a profound impact on our lives. By altering our perspective and choosing to focus on positivity, growth, and gratitude, we can transform our experiences and enhance the overall quality of our lives in an almost miraculous manner.By Thinking Differently
1. Action: When we see negativity around us, we can do our bit to change it. Taking action to put something right strengthens our wiring in the areas of courage, creativity, inclusiveness and compassion.
2. Examination:When we see that a thought creates stress, worry or unhappiness we can examine the thought and see if there is a way to view the situation differently, as to solve the problem.
3. Shifting attention:Another way is to simply shift our attention to something that brings more joy or happiness. It need not be connected to the present thought in any way. It’s as simple as changing the TV channel.
4. Comprehending the Vision for Change: Whenever you decide to make a change, you must first understand why you're making the change in the first place.
Lastly, remember to Take baby steps. The one primary motivator that leads us to persevere is baby steps. That's because when we look at the big picture we can get overwhelmed with all of the steps involved in achieving a goal. Instead, break the big picture goal down into systematic, manageable baby steps. Then, document and celebrate your wins daily. This will help you achieve that change that you've been seeking in a positive way and meaningful way.
