Renowned Indian skydiver Shital Mahajan has once again soared to new heights, shattering records and leaving an indelible mark in the world of extreme sports. The 41-year-old, adorned with the prestigious Padma Shri award and numerous skydiving accolades, recently etched her name in history. She became the world's first woman to skydive from a helicopter at an awe-inspiring altitude of 21,500 feet, right in front of Mount Everest!
Her breathtaking jump took place on November 13, where she executed a flawless descent, landing at the astonishing altitude of 17,444 feet at Kalapatthar. Triumphantly sharing her exhilarating experience on social media, Mahajan expressed her pride in achieving not just one but multiple records, including the highest altitude skydiving landing by a woman.
Shital Mahajan's legacy in the realm of skydiving is awe-inspiring. With 18 National and 7 World records under her belt and an impressive tally of 767 parachute jumps, she stands as a trailblazer. Her daring endeavors include being the first woman to execute a static line parachute jump over the Geographic North Pole and an Accelerated Free Fall Parachute Jump over the South Pole without prior training.
Moreover, Mahajan holds the distinction of being the sole woman to skydive over all seven continents. She is also the first woman to do a parachute jump in Indian Nauwari saree! Her contributions to the world of skydiving have earned her international recognition, including the Federation Aeronautics Internationals' Sabiha Gokcen Medal in October 2018.
