Our society sets norms and expectations for all of us which restrain us from living the life that we want to. “What will my neighbour think if I wear my favourite dress and step out today.” “What will my in-laws say if I come back home late from work today?” “Will the society accept me if I talk about my orientation.” These are a few questions that keep lingering in our mind while trying to survive in this world. Keerthi Anilkumar and Monisha went through the same scenario until they changed their names to Jaison J and Shiva S. And after breaking through the societal norms, they have made a position for themselves in the society. Recently the two transmen were hired by Amazon as delivery persons and today they are confident and proud of their existence.

The credit for hiring Jaison and Shiva not only goes to Amazon but, also to Arunima Sulfikar who is known for leading the Kudumbashree transgender unit Sheroes in Alappuzha. Jaison stayed with Arunima when things were not going right at his house, therefore, she knew he was in dire need of a job. Arunima sent the message to the sub-collector of Allapuzah, Krishna Teja who along with municipal secretary S Jahamgheer spoke with Amazon’s Kerala team.

Both Jaison and Shiva have had their shares of hardships. Right from monetary issues to humiliation by society, they have surpassed all of it and today they are doing extremely good for themselves.
