Where there is no electricity, there is solar energy. Proving this equation right, many remote villages near Jaipur have installed solar power pumps. What good about such installation is that it helps farmer to be independent and not to depend on the government for electricity.
The electricity supply being erratic in these villages, it becomes difficult for the villagers to reach their day-to-day needs. While it is also beneficial for the governments that the power supply companies do not worry about power theft and non-payment of the bill.
Many farmers are interested in installing solar power pumps and the number of farmers installing the solar pump has gone up by three times. The farmers get subsidy of 60 per cent of which 30 per cent comes from union and other from state government.
The state has already installed 28,493 solar power pumps in Rajasthan. Solar pumps also being cost effective it is becoming easy for the farmers to get better prices for their produce. Earlier they had to compromise on the prices and used to receive lower prices for their farming .
Official in the state is also promoting drip irrigation to curb wastage of water. It is surely a good sign that villages are fighting against all the odds in their life, using the energy available naturally.
