Under Chief Minister’s Rural electrification scheme, around 27 remote villages in Rajasthan’s Udaipur district are lit up.
As a part of the scheme, each household received five LED (light emitting diode) bulbs, one ceiling fan and cell phone charging socket. What is appreciating is that all this works on solar power connections.
All this while, the villages would use kerosene lamp and it was also difficult to use the lamp as kerosene was always short in supply.
Because of solar power now it is possible to bring electricity in most of remote and inaccessible regions of Rajasthan.
Around 6,200 households across 91 villages in Udaipur and Barmer districts have received electricity under this scheme. Installation of poles and cables being prohibited in the forest land it was difficult to give electric connections to these places. Solar connection is surely sigh of relief and under the same scheme more and more villages are likely to be covered. The cost of the entire kit is subsidized by the government and one needs to pay Rs 1000 or so and get the solar equipments that include 5 LED, fan and cell phone charger socket.
It is surely a good move by the Rajasthan Government, to cover more villages under this scheme and use of natural energy available in plenty which is solar.
