The 48th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) which concluded in Goa a few days ago saw filmmaker Manouj Kadaamh bag the UNESCO Gandhi Medal for his Marathi feature 'Kshitij A Horizon'.
Kadaamh, in his directorial debut 'Kshitij', depicts the story of a 12-year old girl who in spite of several adversities continues with her education. She positively faces all the obstacles and finds different ways to solve all the problems as they occur during her struggle to continue her education.
The film has also been selected for the Third Eye Asian film festival, Mumbai and will be screened on December 22.
The film got international coverage as it won the best film award at the Indian Film Festival Houston. It was the official selection at Cape Town International Film Market & Festival 2017, South Africa, Global Migration International Film Festival 2017, and Indian Panorama at 48th IFFI among others.
IFFI in collaboration with the International Council for Film, Television and Audio-Visual Communication (ICFT), Paris, present the Gandhi Medal to a film that reflects UNESCO.
The 48th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) was held in Panaji in Goa. The closing ceremony was held at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Bambolim. Legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan was honoured with the Indian film personality of 2017 award.
