Photographer Ravishankar, owner of Oliyan Photography in Chennai, is using his lens to break caste barriers one wedding at a time. Since 2016, he has been providing free and discounted photography services to inter-caste couples, helping them celebrate their love and bridging the gap between communities.
Inter-caste couples in India face numerous challenges due to societal norms, and Ravishankar understands the financial burden they often encounter. By offering his services as a gift, he aims to ease their financial strain and support their journey towards a better, more inclusive society.
Initially, Ravishankar's photography work followed traditional patterns, but as he attended more weddings, he became increasingly aware of the struggles faced by inter-caste couples. This realization prompted him to question why their relationships were not recognized as expressions of love. Determined to make a difference, he embarked on his mission to capture the essence of love beyond caste boundaries.
