A visit to the Delhi zoo will not only fill your memories with its wonderful animals and birds but will also give you more than you could have asked for – personalized postage stamps with your favourite animals!
This will soon become a reality as the Department of Posts has proposed to team up with the National Zoological Park to set up ‘My Stamp’ counter on the zoo premises.
A senior zoo official confirmed that they had received a proposal from India Post to sell personalised postage stamps to zoo visitors. Visitors can choose a stamp template of their favourite animals and get clicked. They can also get clicked in front of their favourite animal or bird enclosure. This initiative will also help to create awareness about wildlife conservation.
He said that details of the project have yet to be finalised. The proposal by India Post read that the Department of Posts wishes to promote ‘My Stamp’ service at the Delhi Zoo which comprise of personalised sheets of 'commemorative' postage stamps of India Post.
It also stated that anyone interested can have his/her own stamp which can be used for mailing purposes.
According to the zoo official, visitors can select from a wide variety of templates on which the stamps will be printed. One will have to pay Rs 300 for a single sheet containing twelve personalised stamps. The stamps will have denomination of Rs 5 and can be used for mailing.
