This enormous infrastructure project promises to cut the travel time between the two states by around 250 kilometers, crossing the magnificent Brahmaputra River in the process. Location and Goals:
The Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge will serve as an essential bridge that connects Dhubri, in Assam, and Phulbari, in Meghalaya, across the Brahmaputra River. At the moment, traveling between these two states via boats takes up to 2.5 hours, and because of the rising Brahmaputra River's water levels, transit can be interrupted during intense monsoon rains.

Length and Design:
At 19 kilometers long, the Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge is expected to be the longest river bridge in India. The structure consists of a navigation bridge that is roughly 12.625 kilometers long. Approach viaducts are located on both ends, 3.5 kilometers on the Dhubri end and 2.2 kilometers on the Phulbari end.

Contract and money:
Larsen and Toubro (L&T) have been awarded the coveted assignment of building this bridge, with money coming from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) is in charge of project execution.
