Mothers are the best cooks and their food can soothe any soul. We wouldn’t have surpassed all the hurdles if our moms weren’t there. In India, several homemakers are not given credit for the way they bind their houses. Their duties start from early in the morning and end when everyone at home goes off to sleep. Namrata Tanna, a former journalist wanted to give such women the wings that they always needed to fly. So, one fine day she came up with Cooked by Moms, a social enterprise through which she is empowering several underprivileged women.
Cooked by Moms are into pop up events through which they give an exposure to women associated with NGOs to get employment. They go to events and offices along with their team of moms to feed home-cooked food to people. The mothers cook healthy and delectable food at private events and workplaces and it gives them an opportunity to get recognized among people for their skills.
The social enterprise has today made several homemakers financially independent which has given them immense confidence. Cooked by moms also follow the zero-waste policy, they make sure the portion of food that is left is fed to the needy.
Every homemaker deserves to be recognized for their efforts. We at My Indian Dream are extremely proud of the initiative that Namrata has taken and we wish her all the luck for her endeavors.
