Hari Menon is the co-founder and CEO of BigBasket, an Indian online grocery store that has revolutionized the way people shop for groceries. Menon's leadership and entrepreneurial spirit have helped BigBasket become one of India's largest and most successful e-commerce companies.
Before BigBasket, Hari worked in different capacities - as CEO of Indiaskills, a vocational educational joint venture between Manipal Group and City & Guilds, UK; and a business head with Wipro. He had also launched one of the first e-commerce portals in India, Fabmart, in 1999.
At the age of 50, in 2011, he co-founded BigBasket along with four other entrepreneurs — offering a wide range of products, including fresh produce, packaged foods, and household essentials, making it a one-stop-shop for consumers.
Since its founding, BigBasket has grown rapidly, with Menon leading the way. Under him, it has become the fifth largest grocer in the country after offline giants D-Mart, Reliance, Big Bazaar; the company's enterprise value is pegged at over Rs. 13,500 crore in today's market.
Menon's vision at BigBasket has earned the company numerous accolades, such as Best Online Grocer & Best Retail and E-commerce App of the Year. His leadership has helped BigBasket become a trailblazer in the Indian e-commerce industry, and his contributions have had a lasting impact on the country's economy and society.
