Nobody can write our destiny except for us. No matter how challenging the path might be, there’s always a way to surpass the hurdles. Similarly, junior Indian women’s hockey team midfielder, Reet stood strong before every obstacle to break through them.
The days were not glorious for Reet’s father, Omprakash who works as a groundman at the hockey stadium in Shahabad, Kurukshetra. He struggled day and night due to poverty but, ultimately his hard work paid off. Reet’s success was the reason why he held his head high.
The feeling of witnessing your children reach a monumental height is unparalleled. Thus, happiness had no bounds for Omprakash the day Reet made it to the junior Indian women’s hockey team.
The hockey stadium in Shahabad was where Reet’s father worked to earn a living and it was the same place where she took the hockey stick in her hands. Didn't know this is going to change her fate, she started following other girls on the field who use to play hockey. She soon learned the game....
The young girl’s performance at the 2018 Youth Olympics stunned everybody and on the basis of that, Hockey India conferred Reet with 10 lakh rupees. And not only that, even Prime Minister Narendra Modi felicitated her for playing incredibly. As reported by Good Samachar.
Reet dreamt of becoming a successful hockey player since a tender age. The 18-year-old enthusiastic girl has not only fulfilled her dream but, has proved that poverty can never become a hindrance in anyone’s way if the determination is strong.
