Spick and span roads make a city look pristine. An advanced way of cleaning them can make it easier to wipe out the garbage and the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has decided to go ahead with a policy of mechanized sweeping of roads soon.
TOI reported that an amount of Rs 97 crore will be shelled out over eight years for this policy and it will be available in the commercial areas. BVG Indian and DM enterprises have been appointed for it.
It is a huge task for the sanitation workers to sweep the roads with those big broomsticks. And with the introduction of this policy, the workload can be reduced.
A road stretch of 2,748km will be covered under this policy along highways and bus rapid transit systems. A civic official told TOI: “Machines of various capacities would be deployed to carry out the work.”
The mechanized sweeping machines can give better results. The policy will be beneficial in many ways and we hope it gets adopted soon.
