February 14, 2019, was one of the darkest days for our country. The families of those 40 martyred Central Reserve Police Force personnel may become stronger but, for them, that horrific event will remain indelible. The incident still overcast a shadow in front of us however, at the same time the sacrifice of the Pulwama martyrs makes us highly proud. And we are happy that even today people are paying tributes to them.
The Nagpur Zilla Parishad has adopted 40 villages (in the name of each martyred soldier) in Narkhed taluka and together they have taken a pledge to work towards conserving water in all these villages as reported by TOI. They have been working really hard for the past four months with no intention of gaining publicity.
Together they dig up canals and trenches to make the initiative a success. For the bankroll of the project, first, the officials of the Zilla Parishad raised lakhs of money and after that, they received funds granted by the guardian minister, Chandashekhar Bawankule.
While talking about how the villagers along with Zilla Parishad employees are contributing for the project, Rajendra Bhuyar, the ZP deputy CEO told TOI: ““While the villagers were there daily, hundreds of ZP employees reached the site on weekends and worked side by side with them because we wanted everything to be completed before monsoon, and even our ZP employees started working well past midnight with temporary lights set up along the site.”
The manual digging has been completed and the next phase will be commenced during the monsoons.
It takes a lot to make such a project a success. We are glad that Nagpur Zilla Parishad and the villagers have kept the martyred soldiers in their thoughts.
