In an extraordinary feat at the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) 2024 in Turkey, Unique World Robotics (UWR), a pioneer in AI, robotics, and STEM education, has made history. For the first time in the two-decade-long competition, a team from Kerala reached the podium, clinching third place in the Future Innovators Elementary Category. Team Rescue Tech Allies, representing India, was the only team to bring home a medal, standing out among more than 450 teams from 85 countries.
The incredible success at WRO 2024 was made possible by two remarkable young minds – Cathlin Marie Jeesan (12) and Clare Rose Jeesan (9), a dynamic sister duo from Holy Grace Academy in Mala, Kerala. These young innovators, both national champions of India, represented the country at the international competition and earned a spot on the podium with their impressive project, the Aqua Rescue Raft 1.0.
Their innovative raft, designed for life-saving during floods, is not only capable of swift evacuations but also has the unique ability to autonomously navigate water bodies, collect debris, and monitor water quality. The data collected by the raft is shared in real-time through the Aqua Watch App, allowing communities to take proactive measures for environmental preservation.
Team Rescue Tech Allies' achievement is a proud moment for Kerala and India as a whole. Out of over 450 teams from across the globe, the duo stood out not just for their technical prowess but also their dedication to creating solutions that address real-world problems. Their podium finish can be attributed to their hard work, determination, and the exceptional guidance provided by UWR mentors.
UWR has consistently set high standards in the international robotics scene, earning numerous accolades over the years. It has trained over 100,000 students globally. The organization continues to push the boundaries of innovation and education.
For the second consecutive year, UWR organized the world’s largest NASA Space Apps Challenge, solidifying its position as a global leader in STEM education. With events held across India, the UAE, and Europe, UWR has brought together young minds to collaborate, innovate, and explore the vast possibilities of space technology and beyond.
The organization’s focus spans across cutting-edge fields like robotics, AI, coding, metaverse, space technology, and rapid prototyping. Through their training programs and competitive platforms, UWR aims to cultivate groundbreaking projects and products that will shape the future.
UWR’s success in international competitions is part of a larger vision to make Kerala a global hub of innovation. Bansan Thomas George, CEO and Founder of UWR, has articulated a bold vision to ignite a passion for future technologies among K-12 and university students in India, starting with Kerala. He believes that by encouraging participation in global competitions and creating a culture of innovation, Kerala can become a key player in shaping the future of technology.
With a focus on cutting-edge technology, global exposure, and hands-on experience, UWR is paving the way for a brighter, more innovative future.
