Dr Praveen Siddharth, a young orthopaedic surgeon at the Sadar Hospital, in Daltonganj city of Jharkhand’s Palamu district flung into action as soon as  a severely injured 14- year old boy was brought to the hospital. He along with fellow doctors and staff at the government hospital,  donated blood to the teenager, arranged for CT Scan and other facilities not available at the hospital, got him medicines not available there, fed him, and carried out a complicated surgical procedure at their own risk.

Palamu Civil Surgeon Dr Kalanand Mishra said that the boy had lost lots of blood and as the hospital's blood bank didn't have the required blood, a staffer, Abhishek Komal, donated. When that didn't suffice,another hospital doctor, Sushil Kumar Pandey, volunteered. As the doctors took active interest, the staff also joined in to save the boy's life.

The boy, Sahil who had fallen from a speeding train suffered severe injuries and was brought to the hospital with near zero pulse. His leg was infected and surgery had to be performed to remove the infected part. As Sahil's relatives were not present, Dr. Siddharth was advised against the surgery. Yet, Dr. Siddharth performed the surgery at his own risk with the co-operation of his staff and colleagues.

Dr Siddharth only wishes that people have faith in doctors. Recently, a doctor was attacked by the relatives of a patient in Maharashtra which led to a state wide strike by doctors. Sahil's father is very grateful and says that the doctors have brought his dead son back to life.
