In a remarkable initiative to promote cleanliness and hygiene, Shachindra Pratap Singh, a senior officer in the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC), has distributed over one lakh brooms for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Singh, who is an ardent follower of the campaign, believes that if each person keeps a 10-meter radius clean, it can significantly improve the world we live in.
Singh's journey began when he noticed a littered bus during his posting in Auraiya. Determined to make a difference, he bought brooms in bulk and distributed them among the drivers and cleaners at the depot. Undeterred by initial skepticism and ridicule, Singh formed a WhatsApp group called 'Jhaadu Daan,' which gained immense popularity and support.
Utilizing the power of social media, Singh set a target of distributing 2,000 brooms during his posting in Agra. The response was overwhelming, with Singh managing to distribute over 33,000 brooms. Encouraged by this success, he raised the bar and aimed to distribute one lakh brooms, eventually achieving the milestone.
Singh's commitment and dedication to the cause earned him recognition in the India Book of Records. As the nation observes the Swachhata Pakhwada (Cleanliness Fortnight), Singh's efforts have garnered praise from the state's transport minister, Daya Shankar Singh.
The 'Jhaadu Daan' movement highlights the impact that individuals can make by actively participating in cleanliness initiatives. Singh's inspiring journey serves as a testament to the power of collective action and reinforces the importance of maintaining cleanliness for a better future.
