Located in the Sagittarius C (Sgr C) region, approximately 25,000 light years away from Earth, this star-forming area is filled with intriguing phenomena yet to be fully understood.
In the image taken by the Webb telescope's Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam), the galactic center appears as a chaotic mix of colors. The central cyan-colored material represents ionized hydrogen, created when energetic particles collide with hydrogen atoms, causing them to become positively charged.
