The Indian cricket team is nailing it at the ICC World Cup 2019. Be it Rohit Sharma’s sixes or Hardik Pandya’s fabulous bowling skills, the team is on a roll. But amid all the craze how many of us know that recently India’a Women Hockey team gave a tough fight to Japan in Hiroshima and won the FIH Series finals?
The team led by Rani Rampal beat Japan by 3-1 and now they have taken a step ahead to make way to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. It was a grand welcome for Rani in India and now she is all set to appear for her MA English exams.
It’s a big win for the team and their victory has made our hearts swell with pride. But, the forward of the team, Lalremsiami’s was hit by a shattering truth when she received the news of her father's demise.
Despite her huge loss, she decided to play because she wanted to make him proud. Her father suffered a heart attack and while talking to ANI about why she chose to stay with the team, Lalremsiami said: "Just before the game I got the news that my father died but I still played & we became Champions. I believe my father will be proud of my achievement, wherever he is.”
It is not easy to overcome the loss of a parent and Lalremsiami’s decision of staying back tells us how important it is to be strong in every instance of life. Her eyes may remain misty but, maybe somewhere she is satisfied that she was able to make her father proud.
