The tallest tricolour of India was hoisted at Attari on Wednesday, two days ahead of Republic Day. Flying high on the country’s tallest flagpole at 360 feet, the flag was hoisted by the Amritsar Improvement Trust (AIT) who is responsible for the maintenance of the flag. The flag made Indians swell with pride as it was hosted near the Pakistan border. It is said to be visible from a long distance, even from Lahore in Pakistan.
The flag was earlier subjected to wear and tear due to high-velocity winds. The 120 feet by 80 feet flag was downsized to 60 feet by 90 feet to prevent it from being damaged.
