India’s rising motorsport star Atiqa Mir has once again made the nation proud. The 11-year-old karting sensation from Jammu & Kashmir delivered the most dominant performance of her young career in Greece, clinching a historic pole-to-flag victory at the prestigious Champions of the Future Academy Program in Thessaloniki.
In a weekend packed with speed, skill and nerves of steel, Atiqa completely outclassed an international field of racers in the OK-NJ category. From qualifying sessions to heat races and the final showdown, the young Indian racer aced them all, proving why she is widely regarded as one of the brightest talents in world karting.
What made the victory even more special was the moment the Indian national anthem played as Atiqa stood proudly atop the podium, emotional and triumphant.
Atiqa’s performance in Greece was nothing short of extraordinary. She secured pole position with a blistering lap time of 56.77 seconds, nearly three-tenths of a second faster than the next competitor, a massive gap in elite karting. The young racer swept through qualifying, heat races and finals with remarkable composure, becoming only the third driver in the history of the series to achieve a complete clean sweep. Her victory in Round 2.2 came with an astonishing margin of over 2.6 seconds despite all 25 drivers competing with identical equipment, a rare feat in motorsport.
Experts and fans alike described it as one of the most commanding performances ever seen in the championship. “It is such a difficult and physical track and I managed to win all the races. I was very emotional when the National Anthem played and there is no better feeling for me than that,” Atiqa said after the race.
Born in Mumbai with family roots in Jammu & Kashmir, Atiqa Mir has been rewriting history from an incredibly young age. She is already the first Indian racer to receive support from the Formula 1 Academy, a major recognition of her immense talent and potential. Atiqa has consistently challenged and defeated more experienced drivers, most of them male competitors. Her calmness under pressure and aggressive racecraft have impressed racing experts across the globe.
Her dream is ambitious, to become the first female Formula 1 driver. And with performances like the one in Greece, that dream no longer feels distant.
Atiqa’s triumph marks another landmark moment for Indian motorsport, a sport that is steadily gaining momentum in the country. At an age when most children are just discovering their hobbies, this fearless racer is carrying India’s flag onto some of the world’s toughest tracks and winning.
Her victory in Greece is not just a medal-winning moment. It is a statement to the world that India’s daughters are ready to race ahead, break stereotypes and conquer global sports. For millions watching back home, the sound of the Indian national anthem in Greece was more than emotional, it was a glimpse into the future of Indian motorsport.
