Anshu Jamsenpa became the first woman in the world to make the fastest dual ascent of Mount Everest when she climbed it twice in just five days. On May 16, she climbed the Everest by its Southeast Ridge route. When she again conquered the Everest on May 21, she beat the record set by Chhurim Sherpa, a Nepali woman who had made the dual climb in seven days in 2011.
Now, Anshu wishes to scale the smaller unclimbed peaks. A tourism department official said that the Nepali government will certify both the ascents this week. Anshu's feat is not new. In 2011, Anshu had climbed the summit twice in 10 days and she had climbed it again in 2013.
Anshu who is a motivational speaker and trainer in mountaineering has been told by many people to take on the so-called seven summits, the highest peaks on the seven continents, but Anshu's heart lies in conquering the unclimbed peaks of the Himalayas.
Now, her goal is to take on Summit Kangto, the highest peak in Arunachal Pradesh, which is 7,042 meters (23,103 feet) tall and has never been climbed, and other virgin peaks.
The mother of two began her expedition in April with a blessing from the Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama.
