For students across the nation, a national digital university is a brand-new development in the sphere of higher education. The Ministry of Education is creating a digital university in close cooperation with all parties, and it expects students to benefit from it starting in 2023.
The distinctive feature of this initiative is that it will be connected to all other universities and colleges in the nation because they will all be affiliated with one university.
According to the ministry, the online university would take applications for admission and other relevant processes. The university will use the same online method to admit students.
Furthermore, the university will use an online system for both its teaching and evaluation of its students. Through the ministry's portal, "Swayam," the students can pursue their studies and finish their assignments online.
All graduates of the 12th grade will be eligible to enroll in higher education. According to M Jagadesh Kumar, the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), there would be no limit on the number of seats or students admitted to this university. According to IANS, students from all across the country will be able to enroll in the courses of their choice and would be able to take advantage of the institution's benefits.
The ministry has asked for a strong education strategy that is industry-led and supported by a team effort to improve youth employability. Additionally, based on the New Education Policy (NEP), the students in the virtual university will have access to several entry and exit points as well as the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC).
