The leading force in Indian aerospace and defense, Flying Wedge Defence, has unveiled the FWD-200B, the country's first-ever domestic bomber UAV. This revelation is a major milestone in supporting the Made in India initiative and reducing India's reliance on costly foreign unmanned bomber aircraft.
With a 100-kilogram payload capacity, the FWD-200B is classified as a MALE (medium-altitude, long-endurance) unmanned combat aerial vehicle. It is intended to deliver missile-like weaponry for accurate airstrikes and is outfitted with optical surveillance payloads. It can reach a top speed of 200 knots, or 370 km/h, and has an amazing endurance range of 12 to 20 hours.

Tejaskanda emphasized, "While the US Predator costs a staggering Rs 250 crores, our indigenous FWD-200B, incorporating cutting-edge technology and manufactured domestically, slashes the cost to a mere Rs 25 crores. This underscores our dedication to self-reliance and positions India as a frontrunner in cost-effective defense solutions." The advanced manufacturing hub of Flying Wedge Defence, sprawling over 12,000 square feet in Electronic City, meticulously crafted the FWD-200B, marking a significant stride towards India's self-sufficiency in defense technology."

The company stated that the FWD-200B could carry a maximum takeoff weight of 498 Kgs and also mentioned that it holds a ground control station (GCS) range of 200 km. Tejaskanda further stated that within the next three months, they should be able to take it to the Centre for Military Airworthiness & Certification (CEMILAC) and complete the certification process. He added that once the certification is obtained, they would be ready to induct it into the forces.
He also stated that later this month, the full-scale model of the FWD-200B will undergo flight testing. Next month, the business intends to closely monitor and evaluate the aircraft's behavior and flying dynamics ~ seems like a lot of things to uncover!
