10 major tourist destinations across India will be specially developed as Iconic Tourism Sites by the central government to attract more tourists in India.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the Union Budget early this month proposed the development of infrastructure keeping in mind to facilitate the tourists coming to visit these prominent sites of our country. In addition to this amenities will also be provided to the 100 Adarsh Monuments of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
Karnataka's cultural heritage Hampi is also a part of Iconic Tourism Sites. For its magnificent, architectural work, it was declared as World Heritage Site by UN.
As Hampi is located in Ballari District, taluka Hosapete, there are 57 major monuments in Hampi which includes four villages around. No proper facility of toilets are the actual drawbacks of the beautiful site. As the space behind the monument is used to by the people for the same, resulting in a very bad condition today.
Many beautiful and historic monuments have this issue and that is the reason why it is difficult to maintain and they are getting ruined.
‘Iconic Tourism Site’an initiative will not only encourage more tourists visiting the monuments but also taking care of India's rich cultural heritage.
