The Sikh community has always set an example of brotherhood and humanity. From floods or terrorist attack in London to the war torn Syria, they have always opened their hearts and Gurudwaras and went out of their way to help people in need.

Now, they are working towards helping the distraught Tamil Nadu farmers. It has been a long battle for the farmers who have traveled all the way to Delhi to fight for loan waiver and drought relief package.

Bangla Sahib, a Gurudwara known for offering refuge to anyone in need, has come to the aid of these helpless farmers. The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has decided to feed these farmers who have been protesting for the past 100 days and reeling under financial crisis.

Manjit Singh, President of DSGMC said that the hapless farmers don’t know the language nor the place where they can get food. Therefore, arrangements have been made to deliver langar food to them twice in a day. He said that they don’t mind providing the farmers with accommodation, but they didn’t ask for that service.

The Bangla Sahib Gurudwara offers lunch comprising chapattis, dal, sabzi and kheer to 10,000 visitors daily. This food was sent to the farmers as well along with rice as they came to know that the farmers preferred rice to rotis.

Manjit Singh said that they offer food to the needy and there is no discrimination. He also stressed that serving food to farmers doesn’t mean that they are allegiance to their protest. It just means that they are serving those who seek Guru’s help.
