Meet Sureshkumar, a 32-year-old man whose inspiring story defies all odds. Despite being completely blind, he runs a thriving service center for electrical appliances in Coimbatore. Suresh expertly repairs mixer-grinders, washing machines, refrigerators, and LPG stoves using his exceptional sense of touch.
Tol reports reveal his remarkable skills as he fearlessly disassembles appliances, even with the power on, identifying wires and parts solely through touch. Listening intently to the sounds they make, he diagnoses issues with ease. Although gaining trust initially was challenging, his undeniable expertise soon won over customers, who now entrust him with various items such as double-door refrigerators, washing machines, mixer-grinders, ceiling fans, and gas stoves.
Suresh's journey began at the age of six when he lost his vision due to brain fever. Attending a government school for the visually impaired until Class V, a turning point came when he met Krishnamurthy, a kind-hearted man who owned an electrical goods service center. Under Krishnamurthy's guidance, Suresh honed his skills, learning to differentiate parts by touch and even mastering coil winding.
Filled with newfound confidence, Suresh established his venture, 'Mari Electrical,' and now receives numerous gadgets for servicing and repair from a popular local electrical appliances store. To facilitate payment, he encourages the use of UPI, and he plans to learn Braille to overcome currency identification challenges.
Suresh envisions setting up an institute to train visually challenged individuals in electrical repair, providing them with dignified livelihoods and independence. His determination not only supports him and his mother but serves as an inspiration to others, proving that resilience and support can lead to remarkable success despite limitations.
