Come September and the UP government is all set to launch a dialysis centre in Ghaziabad that will cater to the poor patients for free. The centre will have 12 beds and will come up in District Compined Hospital, Sanjay Nagar.
Ghaziabad chief medical officer (CMO) N K Gupta said that a building for the dialysis centre is being constructed and the civil work is expected to be completed in a week. Then, DCDC Pvt Limited, a private company, which has signed a MoU with the state government will take charge.
According to the MoU, the private company will set up the dialysis centre in the building provided by the government. It will set up all the equipment that are required for dialysis and will treat patients free of cost. The state government will pay a certain amount to the company.
Gupta informed that a single dialysis in a private hospital cost patients up to Rs 5,000. This is an exorbitant amount for the poor people. In the absence of a government dialysis centre, poor patients cannot afford treatment and are left in the lurch, so they are relieved to have a free dialysis centre in the city.
