In a historic move, Jammu has for the first time deployed women police personnel on night duty across six crucial checkpoints. This pioneering step aims to provide a strong sense of security and ensure hassle-free travel for women during nighttime hours.

From 8 pm to 6 am, armed with state-of-the-art weaponry, these dedicated women cops will closely monitor the movement of people, with a special focus on women travelers and commuters, at various entry and exit points in Jammu.

The deployment of women cops in Jammu city marks a significant milestone.  Speaking to TNIE, one of the women police officers emphasized how their presence during the night would guarantee safe and trouble-free journeys for women travelers. The women officers firmly believe that their vigilant presence will not only deter crimes against women but also crimes committed by women.

This strategic move has been warmly received by the community, with women travelers expressing their appreciation for the initiative. Anjali, a frequent commuter, hailed the deployment of women cops during the night, stating it would increase their safety and that women can now travel alone without fear. 

Beyond ensuring the safety of women travelers, senior police officials anticipate that this deployment will also act as a deterrent to drug peddling and other antisocial activities conducted by women criminals during nighttime hours. The presence of these dedicated women personnel will undoubtedly bolster security and foster a safer environment for all.

With women cops at the forefront of night patrols in Jammu, a new era of security and empowerment has begun, ushering in a brighter future where women can travel with confidence and freedom.
