Air Deccan, after winning connectivity bids under UDAN will be starting its first flight from Nashik to Pune on December 22. UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) is the union government’s regional airport development and regional connectivity scheme(RCS). It aims to make air travel affordable and widespread.
For the first phase, Air Deccan had won the bid and it will commence its flight operations on Dec 22 with the Nashik- Pune flight that will reach Pune at 7 pm. Meanwhile, the flight from Pune to Nashik will leave at 7.20pm. It will be a daily flight and the first flight under UDAN at the Pune facility.
Sources said that flights connecting Mumbai to Nashik and Mumbai to the Jalgaon airport are also set to start operations from December 23. The airline has declared some of the tickets for the inaugural flights would be sold for Re 1.
An airline official said that the bookings have started and the schedule for the flights would be announced on the airline website on Thursday.
Air connectivity between Pune and Nashik was the need of the hour as Pune is an IT hub and Nashik is an industry hub. People are also looking forward to services to and from Mumbai, the commercial capital of India.
