In a bid to revolutionize intercity travel, India is gearing up for its second high-speed rail project in Gujarat, linking Ahmedabad to Delhi with a state-of-the-art bullet train. This transformative endeavor, expected to operate at an average speed of 250 km/hour on an elevated corridor, will significantly reduce the travel time between the two cities from 12 hours to a mere 3.5 hours.
The detailed project report, recently finalized by the railways, unveils a strategic route that includes key stations such as Himmatnagar, Udaipur, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Ajmer, Kishangarh, Jaipur, Rewari, and Manesar. This comprehensive plan underscores the government's vision of introducing high-speed rail projects across India to bolster connectivity and drive tourism.
Initiated by the National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRC), the Ahmedabad-Delhi bullet train project will utilize cutting-edge technologies like aerial LiDAR surveys. The bidding process for the final alignment design was initiated in September 2020 to expedite planning and ensure precision in execution.
Railway officials emphasize that the alignment of tracks with existing railway networks will minimize the challenges associated with extensive land acquisition, streamlining the implementation of this ambitious project.
The bullet train service will originate from the Sabarmati station, equipped with a multimodal hub to facilitate seamless intercity connectivity. Operating at a maximum speed of 350 km per hour, the train will traverse through strategic stations in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Haryana before reaching its destination in Delhi.
Meanwhile, the eagerly anticipated Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train service is on track to commence operations by July 2026, reinforcing the government's steadfast commitment to expanding high-speed rail networks nationwide.
The impending launch of the Ahmedabad-Delhi bullet train project signifies a giant leap forward in India's transportation infrastructure. It promises unparalleled convenience, speed, and accessibility for travelers. As the nation strives to embrace cutting-edge technologies and elevate the standards of intercity connectivity, the future of high-speed rail in India appears increasingly promising.
