Almost a year ago Facebook’s attempt to connect most of India to the internet was stopped by the Indian government. Now, Facebook has announced that its new program to connect nation has now begun in India.
Facebook's ‘Express Wifi’ is now present in India, as announced by its website. The company has stated that, it is working with carriers, internet service caterers, and local business personnel to expand connectivity to less served locations around the world.
Express Wifi services will enable local businessmen to provide better and quality internet access to their neighbors and make an income out of it. Through this service, Facebook allows customers to purchase fast, reliable and reasonably priced data packs.
Facebook hasn’t disclosed the regions where Express Wifi program has started running. It has not unveiled charges to access the internet service too. Express Wifi, is a branch service of Facebook's Internet.org initiative.
