As November begins, it is the best time to travel to places like Rajasthan and explore its historic and cultural beauty. Places like Udaipur, Jaipur, Jaisamand are attractive tourist destinations of Rajasthan. However, there are few places that are extremely beautiful but are not much known to tourists.
Siliserh is one such secret place that has not been affected by commercialization. Its beauty is pristine and it looks like a heavenly water body nested in the Aravalli range. The lake which is situated 13 km from Alwar spans an area of 7 km.
The Siliserh Lake is an artificial lake built by King Vinay Singh in the nineteenth century for the purpose of supplying water to nearby Alwar city. There is also a Lake Palace built on it by the Maharaja for his beloved wife Shila. It was used as a hunting lodge but later was converted into a heritage hotel. The view of the lake from the terrace of the hotel is very captivating and one can spend hours soaking in the natural beauty.
Tourists can also enjoy a wonderful boat ride in the expansive lake. It is a great opportunity for bird watchers to enjoy bird watching due to the presence of a large number of migratory birds and many species of other local birds. The water of the lake is usually clear and though some parts of the lake are infested by crocodiles, the boatmen take care not to ferry the tourists to those places.
The serene beauty of the lake is enhanced by the Aravalli mountains in the backdrop. One can also visit nearby tourist attractions like Neemrana Palace, the Sariska National Park and JaiSamand Lake.
