After an intense season, with MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) winning 5 championship titles, India’s favorite domestic cricket league is back. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is scheduled to start on March 22, 2024. The IPL is the second-richest domestic league in the world, after America’s National Football League (NFL). This T20 cricket league attracts top international players, promising high-octane matches and fierce competition among the franchises. The Indian Premier League will resume the following week, with the first game between the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Here are the top ten young Indian players to keep an eye on during the competition~
Abhishek Sharma
When Abhishek Sharma was a member of the Indian U19 squad that won the world championship in 2018, the Delhi Daredevils (now the Delhi Capitals) selected him. He joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) the next year, which was his side to play for in the 2024 Indian Premier League.
Kushagra Kumar
The Delhi Capitals acquired wicketkeeper-batter Kumar Kushagra for ₹7.2 crore. The Jharkhand cricket player would be DC's backup when Rishabh Pant returns from injury, having been cleared by the BCCI. The club may also use him as a specialty hitter.
Mohsin Khan
When Mohsin Khan, an uncapped rookie, was acquired by the Lucknow Super Giants in 2022 for his basic fee, he had an incredible maiden IPL season. In nine games, he claimed 14 wickets. He had ailments the following year, and in 5 matches, he managed just 3 wickets. This year, the Uttar Pradesh left-arm pacer will be one of the essential players to keep an eye on.
Singh Ramandeep
When Ramandeep Singh joined the Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2022, he made his IPL debut. He'll play for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) this season. The purchase made by Shah Rukh Khan's team cost ₹20 lakh. After five games, the Punjab all-rounder has amassed 45 runs and six wickets.
Riyan Parag
The Indian team that won the 2018 U19 World Cup also included Riyan Parag. At a cost of ₹20 lakh, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) acquired him before the 2019 IPL. Being the youngest hitter to score an IPL 50, he now owns the record. RR paid ₹3.8 crore to buy him back after releasing him.
Robin Minz
Captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), MS Dhoni, promised the father of Robin Minz that if no one else bought him, his team would. But such a situation did not come to pass. He was acquired for ₹3.6 crore by Gujarat Titans (GT), who paid a hefty sum of money this time around for new players. Although Minz hasn't yet participated in first-class cricket, he excelled for Jharkhand in smaller age categories. He bats left-handed, bowls slow left-arm orthodox and keeps wicket.
Rizvi Sameer
CSK paid ₹8.4 crore to get Meerut's potent batter, Sameer Rizvi. CSK engaged GT and DC in a bidding battle. Gujarat was prepared to pay ₹7.6 crore for Rizvi, but CSK emerged victorious. Known by his nickname "Right-handed Suresh Raina," the 20-year-old will probably be a key member of the aging cricket squad.
Shah Rukh Khan
The batting addition from Tamil Nadu cost GT ₹7.4 crore. Although Khan has been a much-talked-about figure in the IPL, he has not yet produced performances to measure up to his hype. Thus far, he has scored 426 runs in 33 games. Previously, he was a member of the Punjab Kings. Given that Hardik Pandya is no longer with GT, Khan is anticipated to serve as a finisher.
Suyash Sharma
In the IPL 2023, Suyash Sharma performed admirably for KKR, claiming 10 wickets in 11 games. Before the 2023 IPL, the Delhi leg-spinner with long hair was purchased at ₹20 lakh. In his debut matchup with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), he claimed three wickets.
Yash Dayal
Yash Dayal's most well-known moment to date was perhaps his notorious last over against KKR, in which Rinku Singh struck him five times in a row for sixes to win a thrilling match over GT. After this game, Dayal's performance deteriorated and he was unable to produce. Gujarat ultimately let him go. This time, RCB showed their confidence in the left-handed pacer's talents by paying ₹5 crore to get him.
