DoubleTree by Hilton Pune-Chinchwad is taking bold steps to lead the hospitality industry towards a greener future. The hotel has embedded eco-friendly practices into its core business strategies, proving its commitment to sustainability through tangible actions.
The journey began with a significant transition from plastic to glass water bottles, inspired by the staggering realization that the hotel had used 18,000 plastic bottles in just three months. This change not only eliminated plastic waste but also led to the creation of a unique Christmas tree made from saved plastic bottles, highlighting the hotel's innovative approach to environmental conservation.
DoubleTree by Hilton Pune-Chinchwad has introduced several sustainable initiatives, including the use of wooden key cards, biodegradable straws, and wooden stirrers. The hotel also recycles STP water for landscaping, employs ozonators for water treatment, and implemented rainwater harvesting in 2023. Energy efficiency measures include replacing high-wattage lighting with LEDs, using large bottles for room amenities instead of purchasing small bottles, and shutting down lights on unoccupied floors during weekends to conserve energy.
Guests have responded positively to these initiatives, particularly appreciating the wooden key cards and other small changes that contribute to a larger goal of environmental preservation. The hotel encourages guests to minimize their carbon footprints and participate in the collective effort to protect the planet.
On World Environment Day, General Manager Mr. Vinay Nair shared an inspiring message: "Each of us, regardless of our role or organization, can make small contributions that collectively create a significant impact. Every action, no matter how small, adds up to form a larger wave of positive change."
DoubleTree by Hilton Pune-Chinchwad's commitment to sustainability exemplifies the belief that small steps can lead to a big impact, setting a new standard for eco-friendly practices in the hospitality industry.
