With IPL fever striking the entire nation and fans of IPL book their tickets in advance to see their favourite cricketers play the game in front of them Pune will have something different to offer today. The match between Rising Pune Supergiants and Sunrisers at Gahunje Stadium will be witnessed by 25 disabled soldiers.
These soldiers, from Pune-based Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre (PRC), see this high-octane T20 match action for free and cheer for their favourite team. All the credit goes to an initiative managed by Home Side who have joined their hands for crowdfunding platform to raise funds for disabled soldiers.
As per the reports published in the Times of India Supergiants CEO Raghu Iyer said, "We are honoured to do our bit for Indian soldiers through our special campaign, #SuperGiantsforSoldiers. We are glad to host the soldiers at tomorrow's match.”
Evenwhile these soldiers are skilled at various sports like badminton and swimming and have bagged couple of national championships, still they are big fans of cricket and are excited to see their favourite international cricketers play live while they cheer for them. "Cricket has no equal, especially in India. I am huge fan, and would love to see international cricketers in action at the stadium tomorrow," said a soldier, a key basketball player for the PRC team.
"We are confident that the team will improve. They won the last match quite comfortably," said another, who is excited to wear Pune colours at the stadium.
