Maharashtra is the only state in the country to have an industrial policy dedicated to women. This initiative was unveiled earlier this month and has wholeheartedly been received by women entrepreneurs.
The policy gives an impetus to women for starting their businesses, including capital assistance of up to Rs 1 crore, subsidized interest rates and electricity tariff, among others. It aims to double the number of women-run businesses, promote financial independence of women and develop a maximum number of women entrepreneurs in the state.
The policy rendered a string of benefits to firms having complete women ownership or proprietorship.
President of Chamber of Marathwada for Industry and Agriculture (CMIA) Prasad Kokil termed the policy as a good initiative by the government as it is for the first time, a structured policy has been approved for women entrepreneurs.
He added that the policy emboldens women to take loans to make their business prosper as it offers loans at very low-interest rates to women. The policy also helps with the marketing aspect of business by providing discounts to women entrepreneurs to display their products in exhibitions.
While the policy shows a cent per cent effort by the government towards promotion of encouraging women-run enterprises, industry representatives and women entrepreneurs have stressed on its implementation to ensure its success.
