Aryan Kumar, a Geography graduate from Bihar, has employed innovative methods to cultivate capsicums, coriander, and mushrooms, demonstrating a remarkable shift in traditional farming practices. At the age of 22, he has not only found success but also increased his profits substantially through cash crop farming.
Breaking away from conventional farming, Aryan underwent a week-long course facilitated by Bihar government’s agricultural technology agency. He enthusiastically embraced the learnings from this course and applied them to his cash crop farming techniques. The results have been impressive, showcasing higher yields, efficient water usage, and lowered risks compared to traditional farming methods. His primary crops include coriander, mushrooms, and capsicum, bringing in an annual income ranging from 10 to 12 lakhs.
Aryan's success can be attributed to his adoption of modern techniques such as drip irrigation and the strategic use of sprinklers, optimizing water usage while nurturing the crops' root zones. Additionally, he has implemented the use of fiber netting to manage sunlight exposure based on each crop's specific needs.
Presently, Aryan Kumar proudly owns a newly constructed one-storey house in Karmava Village, showcasing the fruits of his hard work. Moreover, he has established a Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) that operates efficiently through WhatsApp groups. In times of challenging supply chain issues, the FPO offers vital support, fostering a spirit of camaraderie, knowledge sharing, and motivation among its members.
