"Dream, Dream, Dream! Conduct these dreams into thoughts, and then transform them into action."
- Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam
A board game has been designed for adolescents to bring up the uncommon vocab ‘Consent’ which we don't find in this age group. Consent is about respecting your partner's boundaries, making sure that everyone is comfortable and safe, and not just about avoiding legal ramifications. Prioritizing your partner's autonomy and well-being at all times, as well as having open and honest communication about what you are and are not comfortable with, are crucial.
Insights About The Game :
The conceptualization and designing were done by a group of students of Anant Fellowship in Built Environment at Anant National University, Ahmedabad.Consensify is a trailblazing program in a culture where conversations about sex education frequently skirt the forbidden. Consensify, a thoughtful response to the pressing need to redefine sex education in India, is more than just a board game. Through an approachable and engaging introduction to consent, the game aims to support teenagers in making mature decisions regarding their bodies, relationships, and personal space. Furthermore, by emphasizing peer learning and collaboration, Consensify creates an atmosphere in which young minds can develop and learn from one another, spreading awareness and understanding. Giving kids a sense of ownership over their bodies and personal space is the main goal of early consent education.
How this Game Works:
Consensify is a three-to-six-player board game typically to be played in school settings.Players use both luck and strategy to navigate through situations that involve general knowledge and collaborative decisions. The game also tries to inculcate an understanding of trauma response.
Understanding Role Of communication In Concept Of Consent:
This cannot happen without effective communication. A key component of relationship consent is communicating our thoughts and desires in an honest and open manner. Healthy relationships require open communication about our desires, our fears, our boundaries, and what we do and do not want. It is important to remember that while communication is essential, mutual understanding and agreement must be ensured by both partners, not just one. Moreover, active listening is a necessary component of effective communication. In addition to voicing our own opinions and feelings, it's critical to hear our partner out and respect their experiences. This can improve the relationship and foster trust. Furthermore, dialogue needs to be continuous rather than confined to one session. It's critical to keep lines of communication open and to periodically evaluate goals and boundaries as people and relationships change.
By this we could cultivate a culture of consent and respect in our relationships by making communication a top priority!
