Stepping up in this hour of need, Air India Express has announced that it will transport relief material to flood-hit Assam free of cargo charges, offering crucial support to the ongoing rescue and rehabilitation efforts.

The initiative will enable registered non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and recognised relief agencies to send essential humanitarian supplies swiftly to affected communities, ensuring that help reaches people faster. At a time when thousands of families are rebuilding their lives, this compassionate move highlights how businesses can play a vital role in disaster response.

Helping Relief Reach Faster

The cargo waiver applies to Air India Express flights arriving in Guwahati from Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata, creating an efficient air bridge for relief organisations across the country. With six daily flights from Delhi, three from Bengaluru and two from Kolkata, the airline is providing multiple opportunities for aid agencies to move supplies quickly into Assam.

The free cargo service covers a wide range of essential relief materials, including food and dry rations, drinking water, medicines, hygiene and sanitation kits, clothing, blankets, tarpaulins, and other emergency relief supplies. 

All consignments will continue to follow regulatory requirements and the airline's cargo acceptance and safety guidelines, ensuring that relief operations remain smooth and efficient.

Working Hand in Hand with Humanitarian Organisations

To make the process seamless, Air India Express has invited registered NGOs and recognised relief agencies to coordinate directly with its cargo team.

Organisations need only share their details and cargo requirements, after which the airline will assist with shipment acceptance, documentation, packaging guidelines and flight allocation, depending on cargo capacity and operational feasibility.

To further simplify coordination, the airline has also established a dedicated email address and helpline, ensuring relief organisations receive timely support throughout the transportation process.
