While the Government declared the notes of high denomination illegal two weeks past, the nation and its economy is facing scarcity in cash. Several companies have been lending huge support to their employees by mobilizing ATMs and temporary cash counters.
Companies like Infosys, MakeMyTrip, Yatra.com, Godrej, Vodafone, Flipkart, Ericsson India, Mahindra & Mahindra, Chaayos and Marico, have been quite active with the transactional requirements of their employees.
While some companies are allowing some time for their employees to go for currency exchange at banks, Flipkart, the E-commerce giant has tied with banks to facilitate counters within the office in Bengaluru branch where 60% of the employees already exchanged the old notes with new ones. Godrej group has tied up with ICICI. Axis bank has organized micro-ATMs for big firms like Tata, M & M, and Infosys etc. Also, companies are spreading staff regarding using more plastic money, and also granting advances for those who travel on official note. Vodafone has enabled its customers to withdraw from M-Pesa stores, apart from cash counters.
