Bengaluru-based siblings, Ovee Malve and Ruchi Malve, have made history by becoming the world's youngest certified scuba divers. At just 10 and 14 years old, they have achieved a remarkable feat in the world of adventure sports.
Ovee, who turned 10 recently, set a world record by becoming the youngest certified scuba diver. Her sister Ruchi, aged 14, also joined in this remarkable achievement, making them the youngest scuba diver siblings in the world.
Their father, Neeraj Malve, founder of the Bangalore Mountaineering Club, has been a scuba diver for 16 years and played a significant role in inspiring his daughters' interest in the sport. He ensured that they received proper training and never pressured them into pursuing scuba diving.
Ovee underwent training at Temple Adventures in Puducherry under the guidance of coach Shreya Mehta, while Ruchi trained under Shaurya Tarni of Dive Goa in Goa. Both sisters completed rigorous training, including a 200-meter nonstop swimming and floating for 10 minutes without any support. They also studied theory, passed a written exam, and performed four dives in open water up to a depth of 18 meters to earn their open water diver certification.
With their certification, Ovee and Ruchi are now authorized to perform scuba diving anywhere in the world. Ruchi aspires to work on marine conservation, aiming to raise awareness about the harmful effects of underwater debris on marine life. Ovee, on the other hand, hopes to join her father's venture and become an instructor, exploring dive sites across the globe.
