Bangalore was dubbed "The Garden City" of India in the late 1900s due to the lush greenery that covered 69 percent of its territory. Its amazing biodiversity was ornamented with little gardens and more than 2000 different species of trees. The cool and pleasant environment of Bangalore can be attributed to the green suit of armor. India's "Silicon Valley" was formerly the city of gardens, but a surge of urbanization changed everything. It's absurd how inversely correlated environmental survival is with economic progress. The drastic reduction of forests to a mere 2 percent of the land area and one-third of the lake area can be attributed to the obvious trend of rising temperatures over time.
A group of environmental enthusiasts in Bengaluru have started an incredible project called the "Cool Tree Campaign" to preserve the city's trees. This movement, which was initiated by a group of environmentalists known as Bengaluru Hudugaru, aims to protect the trees in India's IT capital. This organization covers the trees in a certain area of the city with a layer of protective white paint every Sunday. As a result, the trees live longer and are in better general condition. For the past two weeks, a group of twenty to thirty volunteers has been conducting Sunday tree-protection drives in various Bengaluru neighborhoods. They use a brush to apply a mixture of pesticides to the trees throughout the drive. This combination of chemicals can help the tree live longer and resist solar harm.
Several chemicals are mixed to create this chemical mixture. These include adhesion-promoting substances such as Bifenthrin, Malathion or Organophosphate, neem oil, white powder, and wheat flour. A forest range officer from Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has recommended this approach to the group. Vinod Kartavya, the creator of Bengaluru Hudugaru, discussed the "Cool Tree Campaign" and noted that some of the major issues Bengaluru's trees suffer include heat, water scarcity, and termite infestation. The group decided to apply the protective chemical layer to prevent termite infestation and, consequently, prevent them from removing the trees' available moisture. Bengaluru Hudugaru thinks that doing this will contribute to the health and lifespan enhancement of the trees.

You would be very mistaken to believe that Bengaluru's growing heat and water scarcity alone affect the city's residents. Trees are impacted by the heat and water scarcity, which can result in termite infestations and growth retardation.
The water evaporates from the stems since it can't reach the branches due to the extreme heat. This is exacerbated by termite infestation, as they begin to consume the tree's available moisture. The trees begin to rot and perish early as a result of this. Bengaluru Hudugaru claims that it can shorten trees' lives by thirty to thirty-five years! As part of the "Cool Tree Campaign," they spray a white chemical that helps lessen termite infestation and prolongs the life of the tree. The fact that individuals from all walks of life are observed cooperating during these drives is the nicest part. They have finished drives in Shanthala Nagar, Yelahanka, Indiranagar, and Nagarabhavi thus far. In certain spots, they have covered over 200 trees!
Some heroes just carry a brush to preserve the city's trees instead of wearing capes! Bengaluru Hudugaru deserves a lot of praise for initiating this project and for their outstanding job!
