For the 1st time, India’s biggest International Puppet Festival is hosted in Kolkata from 26th to 31st Oct 2017 organised by PUN (Puppets Unite Neighbour) groups supported by Gems Akademia International School.
The Festival aims to regenerate the emotions attached to Puppetry with the idea to restore the art. Wonderful stories through Puppets can engage children readily and encourage them to learn values in a playful way.
The wonderful inauguration ceremony of the largest PUN (Puppets Unite Neighbours) International, Puppet Festival at Mohar Kunja had a variety of Puppets' display ranging from String, Rod, glove, shadow, knee, giant, human, theatre, street, interactive and balloon puppetry with amazing creativity.
Puppet artist from 8 countries like UK, Germany, Peru, Portugal, Italy, Lithuania, Brazil, Singapore & of course India is part of this festival. Also, 700 to 800 school children from Gems Akademia and other schools and dance groups were a part of this amazing parade along with their props.
On the Occasion, Ms Gurpreet Kaur Sethi (Director RGV EVENTS and CONSULTANCY and Founder of PUN) said “RGV Events along with Gems Akademia have taken this initiative of organising PUN Puppet Festival with the aim to create awareness about Puppetry and to bring together the Puppeteers from different countries. We have put special focus in selecting the puppet acts from various countries.”
Mr Lalit Bhutoria (CEO Gems Akademia) who was also present at the occasion added "Puppetry is an art introduced to us by our forefathers. Today’s young generation has become so attached to and dependent on multimedia and technological gadgets for entertainment that Puppetry has its touch among the young minds."
